I'm not nearly as adept at flying my 40 hours as Chris(congratulations) but getting close, 36:44:10. It seems I'm going backwards, was happier with the airplane a month ago.
Not only that I'm a #1 dummy. I took my beautiful 20 hour since rebuild prop off to index it 180 degrees and dropped it. Hit right on the back of the tip. I dressed it and took an equal amount off other tip. Anyway, didn't seem to make any difference, have same vibration. Most noticeable from about 2050-2450 rpm. Gone above 2600 rpm. A dynamic balance is now a must.
I certainly like the canopy but it's unacceptable as it is. Profound trim change and over 5 mph slower. The answer is to install the factory FG TD(maybe) but after talking to Kendall recovering the fuselage is the best bet. If I do that it will be more than a "winter project". I might as well do a complete rebuild including a to plans gear/bungee truss......
Too much for an airplane with a high time too small engine. What the airplane needs is a new owner with more $ which may happen?
Meanwhile I'll probably remove the 2-place canopy and see if I can get it right with both cockpits open. No choice, it's a real dog with that canopy....a surprise for sure. Finish the 40 hours and double check the oil filter again and hope for no more metal.
Oh well.
Oh, I also need to get oil temp down now that summer is really here, running 215 just cruising around. I guess another set of louvers? CHT is good even a little cool @ 325F
