In part of my weight reduction program that I am working on in my, CG Fwd Pitts S1S. I pulled the old big battery out that was mounted to the firewall, and was in the process of installing an odyssey battery. There under the side panel, which I had to remove was the Terra 720 comm Brick, staring at me. It may have even been laughing at me. Well, I slid over to the tool box and stealthly grabbed my *****, and came back to the plane fighting. That thing didn't work that well anyway. So the first photo is what I removed. Well I had a plan forming in my head to mount an old ICOM I had in Its place. I was looking over the ICOM trying to come up with a way to mount it, and slid the battery off. Then the lights came on. With the battery off I plugged it in to the wall charger and it came to life, and worked of the charger. Good information, so looking at the slide on battery design on the battery, I pulled out the calipers and scale and started finding some aluminum the correct thicknesses. Just as I got the metal cut out my buddy Jake come in asking what I was doing? Well I proudly explained my process and show him the radio. He says wow that's cool, but what not just cut the top of the battery off and use it. I says, hey that a good battery! He tells me, "I'll be back" and he leaves. He sometimes thinks he the Governor of California. Well he returns alright with an old corroded battery and says here use this. Photo number two.
