    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

My S-1C was in for annual last month and I was mortified when I saw the bill (it cost more than my car). I helped remove the cowling and re-installed the cowling myself in addition to helping with other parts of the annual. The plane was recently restored and is in excellent condition. I fly it frequently and have never experienced a problem with the aircraft.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you guys paying for a condition inspection on an S-1 (assuming no repairs are necessary)?

The only reason I can afford to own a plane is because it is broken into monthly payments, so when I get a bill for over $1,700 (just the condition inspection, no repairs) it stretches me to the financial breaking point. Any chance that this shop (on my home field) is taking advantage of a younger (23) and less experienced aircraft owner?
