Hi All!
My name is Nick Scholtes, I'm new to the forum, and I'm looking at purchasing my first Pitts. I'm looking at an S-2B. In examining the airplane's records, I see that it had a smoke system installed by the factory, but it wasn't a "factory" system. I believe it was made by Scholler (maybe spelled slightly differently). It was installed before the aircraft was delivered by the factory, but installed by Scholler rather than by Pitts.
The thing that I found interesting is that the aircraft records say that the smoke system can only be used when solo, and all smoke oil has to be drained when flying dual! That seems strange to me, and I can't imagine why that limitation would be placed on it.
Any ideas why this would be? Do all 2-place smoke systems have that same limitation? I have an interest in using smoke while dual, and this system seems to rule that out.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Nick
