First off, I'd like to say hello to everyone! This is my first post of the forum and I look forward to fully embracing this incredible resource.
My dad and I were recently introduced to the idea of building a Pitts ourselves. Obviously, it would be a great bonding experience and we'd have a fantastic airplane to show for it in the end, but our main concern right now is what model to choose.
From a preliminary pro/con list I made, the S-1 is clearly cheaper and easier to build, not to mention it is small enough to work on in my parents' garage. However, its main limitation to us is that it only seats on and since my dad isn't a pilot, he would not be able to enjoy it with me.
The S-2, on the other hand, would be able to seat both of us and is also, from what I've read, a more suitable aerobatic airplane, which would also be a goal in undertaking this project. However, it is far more expensive.
My question is: which would you recommend we build? I'm definitely leaning toward an S-2 and this is likely to be what we decide on, but I'm open to opinions on that. Also, would it be best to build an A, B, or C model? I haven't really seen plans for any S-2's; where can I find them?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
