G’day all, I have an S-1S down in Australia and currently it has a wooden seat which sits me too high to be able to wear a parachute (not a requirement in Aus but I would definitely like to be able to have one).
My plan is to replace the current seat with an aluminium pan which I’ve sat on in other pitts specials and it’s given me plenty of room. Only problem is I have a support/cross bar on my seat which prevents me from being able to put in an aluminium seat pan. I assume it’s only there to provide extra strength to the wooden seat but I’m hoping the brains trust here can give me some more advice on whether I can remove that cross bar or not. I’ve never seen it in any other S1.
Pic below shows the cross bar. Bottom pic shows the lack of clearance - I have no cushion or parachute in that pic just sitting on the wooden seat.
