Hello all. I’m hoping somebody can help me troubleshoot an issue isolated to a new installation of a surefly ignition. we have a Raven with an AEIO540. One traditional Bendix magneto on the right and the surefly on the left. we have the auto plug conversion. We can only get about 10 to 15 minutes of flight before one or two of the spark plugs foul up on the surefly. The magneto has never caused any problems and is also running the auto plugs. The ignition leads are all new but I’ve still tested them extensively. I’ve tried four different types of auto plugs, and I’ve sent the surefly back to the factory for bench testing. All with no issues. Once I land, I do a double check of the snag on the ground before I shut down and it’s always there. So it’s no RPM related. I will then remove all the plugs related to the surefly and I often find one or two fouled. Sometimes top sometimes bottom. It’s random cylinders not always the same. if I clean the plugs and reinstall the problem goes away and I cannot duplicate the snag again on the ground if we go fly for 10 to 15 minutes it comes back. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
