    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

I built my wings and ailerons from a component kit from Steen.
I followed the plans on building from the kit.
There was no aileron balancing description within the kit or the plans.

I was not aware of balancing from the information I had.
Unfortunately, I never found out if my Skybolt was susceptible to aileron flutter.
Eric,
Greetings from Bulverde, Texas. (25 miles N. of San Antonio)
Three of us at Bulverde Airpark (1T8) have purchased your Skybolt and are doing our best to rebuild it to your standards which are awesome.
Allow me to introduce us...
Myself, Mark Julicher, A&P, IA, CFII, ATP Retired USAF: Taylorcraft, L-16, Citabria, several other projects and proprietor of Julicher Aviation LLC.
Tony Mangold, Commercial Instrument pilot: Mooney, Citabria
Dale Mabry, Student pilot: Cessna 120

I guess I am the lead technical guy because I have rebuilt about 5 other planes. We are all doing our best to understand how to restore the plane. I have a set of Firebolt plans and all of Mac's old notes, so I have a clue about how this fabulous plane is constructed.

I just wanted you to know we are going do our best to make the plane as good as it was.

Best regards,
Mark
