This looks like a really decent option for those of us who prefer to fly off grass, cow pastures, etc.
Once my airplane is finished and the bugs worked out, I intend to do the Route 66 thing and a whole lot more with you guys. This TK1 gear appears to be THE way to go for unimproved fields and questionable areas
. The geometry appears correct, with set back axles, and those big shocks look like they belong on a 185.
It’s ugly as sin, but some fairings will dress it right up, and first hand testimonials are through the roof on these.
“Stable and very smooth”, “all bad habits removed”, “no more skittering around in a crosswind” and they say it now lands like a ***** (cat, you gutter minded
Aviators)
Thoughts on the SD2 TK1 gear? I’m pulling the trigger on this. These guys build a ton of gear for the Super STOL crowd, and I like the idea of a flat floor and 4 big shocks.
No smart ass remarks on my landing skills (or lack thereof) needed.
