    Why become a Subscribing Member?

    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

What could be better than to have an afternoon with nothing to so, but to some circuits and bumps in a Scout after an hour of puttering around North Texas on a nice, laid back sightseeing time?

I guess I had other things on my mind, because said Scout decided to try to bite me. Or, should I say, I let it try to bite me.
My first three landings were full stop and go, and the old girl wouldn’t behave. The first was scary enough to wake me up. The second one convinced me to pull my head out of my arse, and the third was much better, after me deciding that I really do need to keep from lightening up the tail wheel on rollout.
About a 10-12 kt X wind from 2:00. I felt the entire field was watching me squeal and screech $$$ off uncheap mains, along with try real hard to shimmy the little wheel out back.
The final 45 minutes of stop and goes were acceptable, but jeez, who stuck my head up my own ass?
Time to start putting on some hours.
Honestly, if my mount had been a C-45, C-46, or a T-6, or even a Stearman, I’d be talking to my insurance company right now. Mindset is 90% of need to have.
NO excuse.
Humble Pie is being eaten right now.
