We recently removed the remote mounted oil filter from my son’s Lycoming O235 and reinstalled the screen. The pressure gauge has a direct line to the back. After a few hours we noticed it now is fluctuating at any constant power setting within 5-10 PSI, and then intermittently back to normal. This happens in rapid succession and is anytime above roughly idle.
I’m wondering if there is air in the lines or something similar to brakes needing to be bled. I thought I might try to disconnect the plugs and motor the engine, then crack the line from the back of the instrument behind the panel. Of course have a rag over everything.
