I ordered this based on a recommendation. My plan is to clamp the aluminum rod between two boards and hand thread the 3/16" rod. I'm not sure what coolant to use but I've used Kerosene when threading aluminum with a tap. It seemed to work OK from what I remember.

The die is unique because it has a centering guide that's about a 1/4" deep to keep the rod running true. It was cheap, less than $20 shipped.

Any thoughts or advice?
