All,

I’ve searched all over and I’m curious what the standard procedure is for where the slave strut penetrates the bottom wing on a stock S model. I have looked at tons of photos and some pitts have plates similar to those around the landing/flying wires, and some just have holes or some faux leather patches. For now, I just cut small holes where they pass thru the fabric. (First picture)

Also, just out of curiosity, when my aileron linkage/bel cranks were initially setup, whoever did the rigging did not center the outer bel cranks perpendicular to the spar. My outside crank on both wings was leaning inboard a bit causing some odd geometry issues. Assuming this effects the mechanical leverage on the linkage during flight how critical is it to have the outside perfectly perpendicular at neutral aileron? They do not pass over center, but I imagine control forces may be more than desired if they are not centered. Should be an easy adjustment. (Second picture for reference. yes I’m missing the large flat washers on the bearing connections)

I’m nearing the finish line on this project and am learning as I go! Thanks a bunch, you all have been an invaluable resource for this project.

,Jake
