The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web.

    Why become a Subscribing Member?

    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

After much discussion with our local A & P and A & I. as well as input from this community we went to AC41-13B and decied on our approach. Many thanks to our faithful Hatz assoc Pres "Painless" for his patience, advice and metal working skills.
Also to a local welder Craig Emmes, with decades of Tig experience who made the welding look easy.. The main repair was clamped and then rosette welded and the right side was strengthend with gussets. Everything now works properly. And applying the "five foot rule" the outcome is aestheticly OK. The photos should be self explanitory. gussets.jpgrudder pivot repair.jpg20241019_120531.jpg20241019_120545.jpgfinal left.jpgfinal.jpggussets.jpgrudder pivot repair.jpg20241019_120531.jpg20241019_120545.jpgfinal left.jpgfinal.jpg
